Fannie Farmer Cookbook, 1987

Description

Fannie Farmer Cookbook, 1987:  This is the twelfth edition of the Fannie Farmer Cookbook, this one revised by Marion Cunningham with Jeri Laber and published by Alfred A. Knopf, New York.  A large, hardcover book with 811 pages and a very clean, clear layout.  If I wanted a copy of Fannie Farmer to actually cook from, rather than to appreciate as an historic artifact, this is the edition I would use.  Cunningham definitely modernizes Fannie; for example, there’s a chapter on Frozen Foods, with suggestions on owning and maintaining a freezer.  Since Fannie Farmer’s original version of The Boston Cooking-School Cook Book was published in 1896, and since refrigerators for the home were not invented until 1913, I’m sure Fannie Farmer could only dream about the use of refrigeration!

This copy of the 1987 Knopf edition of the Fannie Farmer Cookbook is in near-mint condition.  There is some very minor edge wear on the cover.  The binding is perfect.  The pages are all clean and clear.  It matches the Fannie Farmer Baking Book, 1984, available here:  http://74.220.207.130/~vintagp9/?p=796. It has a perfect dust jacket, not pictured here.
