Description

Eva Davis’ Mississippi Mixin’s: Southern Cooking at its delicious best. Published in the early 1950s (no actual date printed,) this cookbook by Eva Davis is subtitled “Southern Cooking at its Delicious Best.”    It was sponsored by Vicksburg and Warren County Historical Society for the benefit of Old Court House Museum, Vicksburg, Mississippi.  Davis had a history-based program on the local radio station, WQBC.  These recipes are from Davis’ own collection and those of her friends and acquaintances.   Mississippi recipes include classics like Mrs. Holley’s Spoon Bread, Crackling Bread, Pone Bread.  Heavy paper cover.   92 pages plus blank pages for additional recipes.  The pages are clean and clear, with the exception of  carefully hand written recipes and pasted in or taped newspaper recipes.  Ideas for Christmas decorations are also carefully recorded.

The heavy beige paper cover has some small stains.  The pages are spotless–absolutely pristine.  The artwork included with the recipes is by Andrew Bucci.images aren’t great because the pages are all beige with medium tan ink printing.

Davis also compiled another cookbook, Eva Davis’ Court Square Recipes.
