The introduction tells us the cookbook is for the hostess who arranges for after-theatre suppers or “for the more ambitious undertaking of high tea.” Written when the chafing dish was extremely popular, the cookbook is arranged with elegant menus proceeding the recipes and instructions necessary to produce the food in those menus.Hard boards covered in linen. 271 pages. 6 1/2″ high by 4 1/2″ wide by 1″ deep. Pages have deckled edges.
