Betty Crocker’s New Picture Cook Book First Edition. Binder. 1961. Nearly Mint!

Betty Crocker’s New Picture Cook Book First Edition! Ring binder or notebook edition.  455 pages. Published by McGraw Hill Book Company, Inc., New York, with the 1961 copyright held by General Mills, Inc. This cookbook is in nearly mint condition.  It is missing the first two pages, the title page and the introduction.  (If you didn’t know they should be there, you wouldn’t know they are missing.)  The cover has some very slight shelf wear, but is very clean and bright.   Inside, the cookbook is nearly perfect.  Ihe pages are all completely clean and clear. Ring binding is tight. The tabbed dividers are nearly perfect.

At we try to provide you with your mother’s cookbook! I know lots of current recipe bloggers write proudly that their recipes are “not from your mother’s cookbook.” We think the recipes in your mother’s cookbook provided food that was nutritious and warm and colorful and just plain yummy! We know that just looking at the cover of your mother’s Woman’s Home Companion Cook Book makes you feel good. Holding her Betty Crocker Cookbook, or her Better Homes and Gardens, or Good Housekeeping Cookbook in your hands is better than nostalgic. And cooking some of those dishes for your children will pass on a great tradition.
