Betty Crocker’s New Picture Cook Book First Edition, Third Printing! Hard cover. NOT the ring binder version. 455 pages. Published by McGraw Hill Book Company, Inc., New York, with the 1961 copyright held by General Mills, Inc. This cookbook is in excellent vintage condition. The spine cover has cracked at the hinges, and it has been mended with clear librarian’s tape. Inside, the front hinge is a bit loose, but holding. Other than those mends–which are nearly invisible–the cookbook is perfect. Pages are all clean and clear. Binding is tight. This is the cookbook people call Betty Crocker’s “stained window” cookbook.
At VintageCookbook.com we try to provide you with your mother’s cookbook! I know lots of current recipe bloggers write proudly that their recipes are “not from your mother’s cookbook.” We think the recipes in your mother’s cookbook provided food that was nutritious and warm and colorful and just plain yummy! We know that just looking at the cover of your mother’s Woman’s Home Companion Cook Book makes you feel good. Holding her Betty Crocker Cookbook, or her Better Homes and Gardens, or Good Housekeeping Cookbook in your hands is better than nostalgic. And cooking some of those dishes for your children will pass on a great tradition.
Now that you have a copy of this cookbook from your childhood, you know your sister will want one. AND your brother! Please tell them you got your copy at www.VintageCookbook.com! Better yet, buy another one from us. What a great Christmas present!
