Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book De Lux! 1944, with Wartime Cooking Supplement

Better Homes and Gardens De Lux, 1944, with Wartime Cooking Supplement.  This copy from the fifth printing in 1944.  It includes the 40 page Wartime Cooking Supplement by the food editors of Better Homes & Gardens Magazine, which taught home makers how to plan meals while saving rationing points.  Published by the Meredith Publishing Company, Des Moines, Iowa.  Tab indexed.  Binder edition.

This copy has very, very minor shelf wear on the cover, mainly at the corners at the base of the spine.  The pages are all clean and clear.  The tab dividers are completely intact.  The binding is in perfect condition.  This is an as-if-new cookbook.  Probably the best copy we’ll ever have!

At we try to provide you with your mother’s cookbook! I know lots of current recipe bloggers write proudly that their recipes are “not from your mother’s cookbook.” We think the recipes in your mother’s cookbook provided food that was nutritious and warm and colorful and just plain yummy! We know that just looking at the cover of your mother’s Woman’s Home Companion Cook Book makes you feel good. Holding her Betty Crocker Cookbook, or her Better Homes and Gardens, or Good Housekeeping Cookbook in your hands is better than nostalgic. And cooking some of those dishes for your children will pass on a great tradition.
