“Never Barbecue in Your Lingerie” from Son of the Martini Cookbook, 1967, Illustrated by Edward Gorey”
Yes, we have the cookbook. See it here: Son of the Martini Cookbook, 1967, Illustrated by Edward Gorey
Son of the Martini Cookbook, 1967: First edition, first printing 1967 of this difficult-to-find secondary work illustrated on both covers and all internal pages by Edward Gorey. Written by Jane Trahey and Daren Pierce. NO dust jacket as issued by publisher (per “Goreyography”). No pagination. Designed as a follow-up to the authors’ “The Compleat Martini Cookbook,” with more recipes, humor, and suggestions for “how to win with gin.” Actually the book has no cocktail recipes. As the authors state, it is a book “designed especially for those Hosts and Hostesses who are too drunk to crawl to a restaurant or even the corner d.scotheque.” Humorous text with wonderful illustrations. Definitely intended as a gift book. Oversized, with one page that flips down to be twice as long as the others.
As you can see from the image, the cover of this book has been through hard times. The pages are uniformly tanned. All the pages are clean and clear. Binding is tight. Good vintage condition.
