Getting Started, 1935. Oversized Book with Stunning Embossed Leather Cover. “Gift for the Bride” cookbook published by Rogers Publishing Company, Inc., Chicago, in 1935. 160 pages. The cover has shelf wear along the edges. Corners are bumped and worn. Edges of the spine cover are worn. But over all, this stunning cover is in excellent antique condition. The hinges are in excellent condition. Binding is sound. Pages are clear and clean.

This book has three sections. Book One is “In the Home.” This section was written with the assistance of the Washington Bureau, Washington, D.C., through its information service. It deals with things like furnishing the home, buying silver, dishes, towels, and linens, as well as things like first aid, the laundry, and household hints.

Book Two is “The Way to His Heart” or the cookbook section, written with the help of the General Electric Company and General Mills, Inc. It has suggested menus, tips for party planning, plus an 86-page comprehensive cookbook for two, with recipes for everything from meat to candy.

Book Three is “Many Ways to Charm,” with information on flower arranging, training the servant, beauty hints, party planning with wine and cocktail recipes, etiquette, and travel etiquette. Emily Post wrote the final portion of this section.

Other than a wedding present inscription, this book has no written notes.
