Feeding the Lions: Algonquin Cookbook is a charming cookbook, written by Frank Case and with illustrations by O. Soglow, from the heyday of the Algonquin Hotel in New York City, when the literary lions, the theatrical lions, the lions of the culinary world, and of other worlds all congregated at the Algonquin Hotel. I’m writing this in mid-November when we’re all thinking about holiday menus. Here are some seasonally appropriate recipes from Feeding the Lions: the Algonquin Special Soup, Special Turkey Stuffing (from an age when people still literally stuffed their turkeys) and Traditional Dressing for Turkey.
