American Cook Book, 1901, One Thousand Selected Recipes: By the Readers of The New York Journal, the Chicago American, The San Francisco Examiner. Published in 1901 by William Randolph Hearst, New York. Hard cover book with 413 pages, plus blank lined pages for additional recipes. This cover is in excellent antique condition. Cover has some slight shelf wear. Hinges are loose, but holding. Binding is sound. Pages are complete clean and clear. The first page of each chapter has a pen and ink drawing of a 1900’s cook. As you might expect, this cookbook is a treasure trove of ethnic recipes, since every recipe in the cookbook was submitted by a newspaper reader. Each recipe is credited to its author, listing the author’s name and full address.
