Crepes Suzette from A La Rector, George Rector, 1933:
Yes, we have the cookbook. See it here: A La Rector, 1933, First Printing, Signed!
A la Rector, by George Rector. or, Rector’s Carte Du Jour. Published in 1933 by the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co., New York. Apparent first edition, first printing, since no others are mentioned. 111 pages. Signed, “Best Wishes, George Rector.” Hard cover. Lovely little cookbook that almost looks hand printed. Nearly mint condition. Binding is solid. Hinges are fine. Very slight soil on cover. Spine cover is missing. All the pages are perfect.
Rector was owner of Rector’s on Broadway, New York. These are the recipes from that restaurant, told with lots of humor and tales of patrons like Diamond Jim Bradley, Wilton Lackaye, and Berry Wall. The illustrations are equally clever, and the recipe for Rector’s onion soup is here in full!
