Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Cookbook, 1968, First Edition: Paperback first edition of cookbook written by Murray Handwerker, son of Ida and Nathan Handwerker, the founders of Nathan’s Famous, Inc. The introduction says that “Nathan’s is the world’s largest and most renowned “Hot-Dog” mart, selling eight million franks a year.” The cookbook is illustrated by Fred Albert and published by Grosset & Dunlap, Publishers, New York. (It was republished in 1983 as a hard cover book by Gramercy Publishing, New York.) The Introduction tells something of the history of Nathan’s including many colorful stories starring many flamboyant celebrities. For example, “When Barbra Streisand held her closing-night party in London following her triumphant run in ‘Funny Girl,’ she had it catered by Nathan’s from 3,000 miles away.”

Paperback book with 97 pages. Hinges have been mended with clear librarian’s tape. Cover has minor shelf wear. Pages are uniformly tanned, especially at the edges. Other than the tanning, pages are all clean and clear. Binding is tight. Recipes for soups and chowders, main dishes (really look at the picture on the cover–that’s not a rack of lamb,) casseroles, continental dishes, salads, party dishes and appetizers, barbecues and picnics, and hot dogs for children.
