Crawfish Bisque from Bon Appetit! Baton Rouge Recipes, 1945: One great recipe from an incredibly rare Junior League cookbook.
Of course we have the cookbook. See it here: https://www.vintagecookbook.com/product/bon-appetit-book-baton-rouge-recipes-1945/
Bon Appetit! A Book of Baton Rouge Recipes, 1945. Compiled by the Junior Service League of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1945. This is a very rare Junior League cookbook; as I put this up today, this copy of Bon Appetit! is the only one on the internet. Paperback cookbook with plastic comb binding. 232 pages with some local advertising. Front cover has shelf wear. The back cover may be missing, I’m not sure. Pages are all completely clean and clear. This copy is a presumed first edition, presumed first printing, no other being mentioned. All the recipes have the contributors’ names, so your grandmother’s recipe may be here.
Some wonderful game recipes, like wild duck cooked in orange wine. Many, many gumbo recipes. Many, many seafood recipes, of course. Illustrated with pen-and-ink sketches of Baton Rouge landmarks.
