Home Bartender’s Guide and Song Book, 1930, First Edition: Cocktail recipes and songs “Concocted and Shaken Up by Charlie Roe and Jim Schwenke, a Couple of Good Mixers.” Illustrated by Bob Dean. Large, hard cover book published in 1930 by Experimental Publications, Inc., New York. 94 pages. Has a light-hearted paragraph of text, usually about how this drink will affect you, with every cocktail recipe, also often with illustration. And the songs usually have a nearly full-page illustration. Songs are old standards, like “Little Brown Jug” or “Frankie and Johnnie.” Some of the songs are more unusual, like “Don’t Swat Your Mother, ‘Cause It’s Mean” or “Father, Dear Father, Come Home with Me Now.”
This copy of Home Bartender’s Guide is only in good vintage condition. The spine cover is gone and the cover has separated from the pages. The binding is holding with the pages, and the pages are all clean and clear. The cover shows considerable shelf wear.
